Young Horse Program
Do you need a baby started under saddle or a tune up for a youngster?
We are now offering jumping as part of our young horse program!
One of the biggest problems in the United States is the lack of trainers who are able to start young horses correctly. This issue has been highlighted in equine magazines and via the various breed societies. Our program starts with the basics of introducing the bridle and saddle until the rider is able to work with the horse independently. Upon completion of the program, the horses are able to walk, trot, canter forward to the bit, ability to lengthen and shorten stride, start of lateral work, free jumping, and hacking in the field and woods. We specialize in preparing young warmbloods and recently mares and stallions for inspections and the performance tests. We help build the confidence of the horse and rider so they will continue down the training road to success.
We also have a training program to develop the young horses to higher levels. Barbra specializes in creating training programs based upon the horse and rider's individual needs. Our traditional methods of starting young horses under saddle lead to happier horses and better long term results. Whether you need your horse started for dressage, eventing or pleasure riding a proper foundation in training is required that progresses at your horses individual learning rate. We measure success by our clients' abilities to take the young horse home and continue training towards their goals.
Our training style is flexible enough to use the methods that are best to achieve the desired goal for each individual. We have several different "styles" of training (natural horsemanship and traditional German dressage) and therefore have a large repertoire that has helped many horses and riders in many different situations.
The cost is $750/month which includes board and 2 to 4 days of training per week depending on the age and progress of the horse. It does not include the extra fees for special feed, holding for the vet or farrier, blanket or boot changing, worming, etc. The owner is responsible for maintaining a healthy horse while it is in the program.
A minimum of 60 days (90 days is required for horses under 4 years old or those not quite saddle broke) Send your horse to us now and get him back to enjoy this spring!
